Lofts are by far the easiest and most cost effective way of saving energy. Over the years many properties have the simple advantage of adding more and more layers of insulation to the loft space. More recently it has become common place for homeowners and tenants alike to insulate as much of this space as possible, saving as much heat as possible.
The current specifications across Scotland and the rest of the UK is 250-270mm. This is usually in the form of 2 layers (100mm and 200mm or there about).
We will be more than happy to check for you. Many prefer to measure this in inches with joist level being a good way of evaluating how much or how little you have. Joist level or below is generally a few inches. Above this level is accepted as enough, although we will be happy to advise you on what we think.
